Last week UHS and PMC issued a letter in which special seats for Balochistan students at King Edwards Medical University, Allama Iqbal Medical college, Nishter Medical University, and some other top-ranked medical institutions were abolished.
Those seats were shifted to low merit medical colleges. Medical students argue that it’s an injustice with the topers of Balochistan.
Khushal Khan, a toper of BMC said that we were waiting for 17 months to get admitted in these colleges, but the current PMC notification leaves us disappointed. He further said that they asked PMC about the issue but it didn’t listen to their issue, while the Balochistan government seems unconcerned. “We want that our seats in top-ranked medical institutions be restored,” he demanded.
Student Action Committee leader Muzammil Khan told TSH that it’s complete injustice with the students of Balochistan. “They worked hard but Punjab government is ruining their future & hard work. These acts are the threat to education in Balochistan,” he added.
Amjad Mehdi of the Progressive Students’ Collective also condemned the new PMC decision and told TSH that their organisation will always stand against the injustices done with students. “If seats are not restored we’ll be on roads again to demand justice for Balochistan students” he added.
