Libraries in the peripheries

Libraries serve as the depository of the written historical record of the knowledge of religion’s, cultures and civilizations.

Libraries have been the symbols of learning as mosques and churches are the symbols of religions. Beyond all libraries play an important role in providing the opportunity and it stores the energy that fuels the imaginations. They open up Windows to the world and inspire us to explore, achieve, and contribute to improving our quality of life.

In this twenty-first century where technology offers various benefits to human life, where doubtlessly digital facilities are reshaping the world as more modified than it was ever before.
In this crucial time, Balochistan which is the largest but least populated province of Pakistan is still in hazardous conditions. 77 per cent of its population is in rural areas.

Since decades non of the governments have worked on the development of the province. Nor they have worked on the education system. The education system needs more development than others. But the present government of Balochistan is doing the same which others were doing. They are not even interested to discuss on these fronts. Despite being responsible governments, they have been escalated tensions for Balochistan.

None of them is going to accept that they are the perpetrators for not giving priority to education. In fact, the past governments were not there to bring prosperity in Balochistan nor is the present one, they are trying to escalate their economy, not of the province. They are reckless about the future of Balochistan.

As we mentioned above the majority of the people of Balochistan are in rural areas. And still, there is no organized system for education.

Now it’s time to restructure and prioritise our educational system. This is the only way to produce scientists, philosophers and leaders from the nation.

In 2018 a student organization named by connecting the disconnected came into existence. They started work on education in Balochistan and Waziristan they were helping the students in different ways. Chairman of connect the disconnected Muzamil Khan said that his organization is working to promote education in Balochistan and Waziristan. In both Balochistan and Waziristan the literacy rate is too low, he said: “after the pandemic, we started building libraries”. Which he thinks is the most important factor to promote education. Further, he said “we have built several public libraries in districts of Balochistan and Waziristan with public support. While in an interview on social media, Muzamil Khan said that ” we will work hard to boost up the education values.

It behoves us, therefore, to pay attention to enduring values of libraries. It brings to mind by, once Keith Richards said, “when you are growing up there are two institutional places that affect you most powerfully; the church, which belongs to god, and the public library; which belongs to you. The public library is a great equalizer. ”

These student organizations are a precedented way for society. This is the only way to bring our society to words the acrimonious truth of life about which they are unaware of. It brings to mind again by, once Ray Bradbury said “I don’t believe in colleges and universities. I believe in libraries because most students don’t have any money. When I graduated from high school, it was during the depression and we had no money. I couldn’t go to college, so I went to the library three days a week for ten years.

Education is the only way to bring prosperity in the country. Instead of criticizing the students taking them to jail, punishing them, governments should appreciate them for their struggle for society.
